Experience Summary:

I am a team-oriented technology professional with experience architecting and deploying systems using Microsoft products including Windows Server 2012R2/2016/2019, Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange 2007/10/13/16/19 Server and Microsoft 365. I’m a cloud champion and am actively involved in developing new ways to leverage Azure services and moving infrastructure to the Cloud. I’ve worked with all versions of Microsoft Windows workstation operating systems. My experiences include identifying opportunities, developing project plans and budgets, managing support contracts, developing and documenting operating procedures, and creating standards and policies. I have a strong customer-focus with valuable people skills. I have proven strategic vision shown through continuous research and testing of new technologies and next generation software. I’m an early adopter and innovative thinker. My management expertise has been developed during a long military career. I have led diverse teams through particularly challenging projects dealing with critical operations in sometimes austere conditions.

In 2023, my wife and I embarked on a new adventure by forming a business to pursue our shared passion for music. While she dazzles audiences as the performing talent, I handle the technology, marketing, and operational aspects. We specialize in providing solo acoustic guitar performances, catering to venues such as wineries, weddings, and corporate events. Our goal is to bring beautiful music to these special occasions as we travel across this great country, breaking free from the confines of my previous consulting job.

A yearlong project in 2022 which was an Exchange 2010 to 2016 migration for Covenant Health, a healthcare organization in Tennessee. This also includes adding an Office 365 tenant for executive and management services as well as the migration of 30K seats into an Exchange server farm.
Worked with a major medical manufacturer to convert from ADFS to Azure password hash and better utilize the capabilities of Azure SSO for applications and upgrade all Domain Controllers to 2019.
Worked with Zumiez, a major specialty retail clothing retailer on a Hybrid Exchange migration with Okta as the main identity provider.
Designed a migration project for AxidXchange an AP Services company to merge the corporate acquisition of GoFastPay into their main Microsoft 365 tenant. Once the plan was approved, I worked with the company to manage the G-Suite to Microsoft 365 migration of Email, Documents to One Drive and google chats to Groups/Teams.
Used Azure Migrate to move server workloads for Cargas to an Azure v-net once the servers were moved configured ASR and Azure Backup to protect the workloads.
During the spring of 2021, assisted several companies (ASIS and Wilson Bank) to implement Endpoint manager for Windows 10 workstations developing Conditional Access, Compliance Policies and Configuration Profiles to cloud manage workstations. Additionally enrolling workstations into Autopilot for full device lifecycle management.
I assisted Leslie University to leverage Azure SSO for school applications, the initial list of critical services is 15 apps both SAML and Azure catalog applications.
Worked with Fox TV to upgrade the GrassValley iTX Playout platform in 15 stations across the US. I was responsible for migration of the individual domains onto new hardware and decommission of the legacy DCs.
Worked with the County of Dallas, TX to provide a full roll out of Intune device management to Android and iOS as well as SCCM/Intune Co-management for Windows 10 devices.
Worked with South Dakota Board of Regents to deploy ADFS in Azure.
I have been the lead Technical Architect for many companies such as Tomy.com, ARRL, Evans Hotels, County of Dallas, Nona Ana County, SPS New England on Exchange Hybrid migrations and Microsoft 365 Organizational implementations.
Architected and Deployed Exchange 2016 for Fairfield County Bank, using both a multi-site DAG and Kemp load balancers. Migration was from Exchange 2010 which had limited fail over / DR capability.
Worked with the Microsoft First Wave program to deploy 1000 pcs with Windows 10S for the Bridgeport School District. This included creating the back-end infrastructure in InTune to provide for rapid provisioning and Azure AD Join for control and management of the classroom PCs. This was hugely successful in displacing Chromebooks and providing the students with a business class OS and Microsoft Office 365 for education.
Worked with South Dakota Universities to move the Hybrid role among Organizations in their Exchange Forest to allow separate University divisions to migrate users to separate tenants.
Worked with Fox TV to remove 16 Exchange Mailbox clusters and upgrade their Hybrid servers to 2013. This included a lot of mail flow configuration experience and troubleshooting of mail relays that were undocumented.
Set up of Okta for Authentication, integration with Office 365 as well as implementation of SSO for various applications, deployment of Okta Authenticator.
Evaluate and design Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.
Design and migrate on premises infrastructure to Azure and combine with Microsoft 365 for an all-cloud environment.
Record and document network infrastructure to propose a design solution as well as developing implementation documentation to guide the customer through the implementation of the solution.
Provide guidance on Active Directory and Exchange best practices.

Provided Tier 2 support for Exchange and Active Directory resolving escalated issues problems in a timely manner.
Project lead for Good Mobile Messaging which provided Exchange like email capability on IOS, Android and Windows Mobile devices.
Supported Blackberry Enterprise Servers using multiple BES versions from 4.6 to BES 5.0.

Technical Lead for implementation of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007R2, driving the project from design through implementation. Integrating OCS with Microsoft Live Meeting, Leveraging Microsoft CALs for OCS the company saved money by eliminating other expensive collaboration services.
Technical coordinator for Microsoft Rights Management Server (RMS) builds and Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA), supporting a secure foundation for document management.
Moved mail delivery from Symantec Message Labs to Microsoft ForeFront Security, saving thousands of dollars a year in services since ForeFront was included with the Microsoft enterprise licensing agreement.
Enhanced security by using TLS mail delivery and Microsoft ForeFront to provide secure mail to partners using web mail products like Yahoo mail, Hot Mail and Google Mail.
Developed a comprehensive implementation plan for migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007.

Starting in the spring of 2019 with the Covid lock down I volunteered my technical expertise to live stream services for Temple B'nai Israel in Easton Maryland of which my wife and I are members. By remotely streaming weekly services so that the congregation could maintain a regular service schedule. What started with an ipad on a music stand progressed into better audio and video equipment that could be connected to remotely to broadcast live services on a weekly basis. This continued until services could continue again in person, which ended up being nearly a 2 year period.

I am an Eagle Scout, although not currently active in scouting, the principles and leadership skills I learned during the progression to this goal were valuable to working up to a leadership role in the military.

My hobbies include video and photography.

If you've read this far you can see that I also enjoy building web sites. I have created several websites for my artist friends and also a way to maintain a running history of my life. I am also researching my ancestry and can trace a lot of history back to the early American years which has been exciting.

While my Wife is super musically talented, I am not, so I provide expertise with my talent with audio skills and sound technology to make her sound great and I can step in during breaks to DJ and MC for our gigs.
